Late Dinner at Steven's Corner, Old Klang Road

Blogging about Steven's Corner awakens me to the fact that Don has never brought me to this restaurant in the day, but merely after my usual dinner time. His intention of feeding me late at night while I diet is so much clearer now! :P

If you have never heard of Steven's Corner, it is now the moment for you to have an overview about this famous spot for people, especially youngsters, to hang out in the midnight. Read the articles here! The incident happened in August 2010, involving the then boss of the restaurant and an old man who owned the shop beside Steven's Corner. I'm not sure how it was eventually, but Steven's Corner is still operating as usual until today, and it is always crowded with humans despite the case.

Back in 1977, Steven's Corner was then just a little mamak stall at the corner of the road in Overseas Union Garden (OUG), run by a husband and wife serving basic mamak food such as Roti Canai and Mee Goreng. Today, after 29 years of hard work and dedication, Steven's Corner has become what it is today, a generic mamak hang out for the Klang Valley mamak craze.

In 1985, the mamak stall is officially registered under "Sri Komalah Restaurant" and business hour has been extended to 24 hours, 7 days a week, being the first of its kind in the region. Due to the overwhelming responds from their loyal customers in Klang Valley area, they have catered to another branch in Pandan Indah in 20 December 1997 and a special dedication of a Pool Club called SSC Pool Club in 20 July 2000.

Here in Steven's Corner, they assure their customers with the best food and services, with over 100 staffs working under the two restaurant. The ingredients used for their food are their own concoction, and their spices are specially imported from India. From time to time, they will come up with additional new dishes to add on to the varieties and currently, their most sell-able dishes are the fried items such as the "Burung Puyuh", Nasi Lemak Special, Tosai Tisu, Chicken Chop and Roti Bakar, to name a few.

In April 2007, they opened their 3rd outlet in Setapak. Furthermore, their catering team now operates under Steven's Corner Caterers Sdn. Bhd. – Copied and edited from StevensCorner.com.my

I usually visit Steven's Corner when I stay overnight at Don's house, which also means I rarely drop by the restaurant. Yet, I will always be sure to return for their Roti Telur Cheese without having to go through their menu to try something else. It is literally Roti Canai, a type of Indian-influenced flat bread famous in Malaysia, filled with egg and cheese, giving you a springy flavor as you chew a mouthful of it. Om nom nom!

Don preferred to have something heavier that night, as he was in hunger. Thus, he ordered Cheese Naan. For your information, naan is quite similar to Roti Canai, but they don't look the same. Naan is a leavened, oven-baked flat bread usually cooked in a tandoor, whereas Roti Canai is often flattened, oiled, folded, and fried on a pan. Needless to say, Don's Cheese Naan was just as finger licking good as it seems from the picture above.

Every dinner at Steven's Corner that I had was extremely sinful indeed, for the amount of oil I had consumed and the fact that I tended to go to bed before digestion. Like I said previously, I was never brought to the restaurant during the day! Albeit so, I would highly recommend you to order Roti Telur Cheese should you drop by Steven's Corner at OUG, Old Klang Road one day. It's definitely worth a try!
