Guy VS Boyfriend

Nicky played guitar during the class. WOW! He's good in it. :O

According to my dearest English teacher of 2010, Mr. Nicky Chin, a guy is refers to a boyfriend. It doesn't mean a male friend, but a male who is in a love relationship with you.

Is this true?! OMG!
