If you have been following all of my recent updates, you should know by now what OpenRice Malaysia and its MakanVenture are all about. This time round, it's the healthy Arabic cuisine at Rock Salt Grill and Coffee Restaurant.

Founded by a Pakistani expatriate, Mr. Syed Mehboob Ali, Rock Salt Grill and Coffee Restaurant is a family-oriented restaurant offering an extensive menu of Arabic, Pakistani, and Western food. The restaurant is named as "Rock Salt" in memory of the owner's hometown in Northern Pakistan, which is well known for salt mines producing high quality rock salt. Its menu is designed based on moderate pricing, offering halal food with these common themes: healthy, fresh, low fat and natural ingredients.
During the food tasting session with OpenRice Malaysia, a total of eight signature dishes will be offered by Rock Salt Grill and Coffee Restaurant, namely Hummus, Shurpa Soup, Caesar Salad, Family Mix Kebab, Chicken Butter, Lamb Mandi, Peshawari Chicken Karahi, and their dessert, Pavlova. The details of these dishes are as follows:
According to OpenRice Malaysia, their Hummus is a must-have Arabic appetizer. It is made of mashed channa (chickpea) mixing with garlic, lemon and olive oil. The dish is served with a plate of freshly baked naan bread separately.
Shurpa Soup is a type of healthy soup cooked with lamb, carrots, potatoes, and light spices. The soup is clear yet rich in taste, and the lamb meat is so soft and tender that it melts in your mouth!
Unlike any other Caesar Salad, the one served at Rock Salt and Grill Coffee Restaurant is a creative combination of Arabic and Western food. The salad comes with fresh lettuce, boiled egg, and garlic naan stick. It is definitely a must-try for salad and naan lovers!
Personally, kebab itself sounds very much interesting and powerful enough to make me drool, not to mention Family Mix Kebab, the signature dish of Rock Salt and Grill Coffee Restaurant. It is a combination of 6 different types of kebabs, including chicken and lamb kebabs that are mixed with different spices. Only pure meat and mild spices are used to make the kebabs natural and healthy.
Chicken Butter may sound oily, unhealthy, and fattening, when in fact it is not. Rock Salt and Grill Coffee Restaurant serves it with boneless chicken cooked in creamy and aromatic butter curry. The spicy flavors of curry are well infused into the chicken. This dish goes well with both mandi rice and naan bread.
In Bahasa Malaysia, mandi means to shower or to bathe, which is why I find the name of the dish, Lamb Mandi, impressive. It is baked using a huge and special stove with Arabic spices. The lamb meat is placed on top of the rice when baking, so that the rice can absorb the fragrance of the lamb.
Peshawari Chicken Karahi is a healthy and traditional Northern Pakistani home-cooked food. The chicken is freshly stir-fried with vegetables and spices only when an order is placed.
Last but not least, Pavlova is a heavenly treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. The delicious cake contains several layers of cream, topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries.
Can't wait to try them all?
